Walk-in Wardrobe Design in Mumbai
An open walk-in needs ventilation in a way a closed wardrobe does not. Mumbai humidity does not negotiate.

About walk-in wardrobe
A walk-in only works above a certain size. Below about 5 ft of clear width between runs, you cannot stand and pull a drawer at the same time, and what you have built is a corridor with clothes in it.
The second constraint is specific to this city. Open shelving in a room with no air movement, at 85% humidity through the monsoon, will develop a musty smell and eventually mildew on leather and natural fibres. It needs either an exhaust or an AC return, planned at the start.

Walk-in Wardrobe — questions
How much space do I need for a walk-in?
At least 1,500 mm of clear width between opposing runs, so you can stand and open a drawer at the same time. For a single-sided layout, 1,200 mm. Below that you have built a corridor, and a conventional wardrobe on one wall would store more in the same footprint.
Will my clothes get musty?
Without ventilation, in Mumbai, quite possibly. Open storage in still air at monsoon humidity develops a smell and eventually mildew on leather and natural fibres. An exhaust fan or an AC return solves it, and it has to be planned before the modules go in, not added later.
Should everything be open storage?
No. Open bays are faster to use and look better, but dust is relentless in this city. We usually specify a mix — open hanging and shelving for daily wear, closed drawer units for anything you reach for occasionally.
