Wardrobe Design for Bedroom
The right hanging-to-shelf ratio is not a style question. It depends on whether the household wears saris or suits.

About bedroom wardrobe
Standard wardrobe layouts come from a default that suits nobody in particular — a long hanging section, a few shelves, one drawer. It is what gets drawn when nobody asks what is going inside.
A sari needs a 1,050 mm hanging drop and benefits from a pull-out rather than a shelf. Suits need 1,150 mm. Folded daily wear is better in drawers than on shelves, because a shelf stack collapses the moment you take something from the middle. These are small decisions and they decide whether the wardrobe gets used properly.

Bedroom Wardrobe — questions
How much hanging space do I actually need?
Most households over-specify hanging and under-specify drawers. Daily-wear folded clothing lives better in drawers, because taking an item from the middle of a shelf stack collapses it. We ask what you store before drawing the layout — it is a ten-minute conversation that changes the whole internal split.
What is the right height for drawers?
Between 600 and 900 mm, where you can see into them without bending. Drawers at floor level get used for things you rarely need, which is a waste of the most accessible hardware in the wardrobe.
Should the wardrobe back onto an external wall?
If it has to, specify BWP 710 rather than BWR and leave a 25 mm air gap behind the carcass. Mumbai external walls carry moisture through the monsoon, and a carcass pressed flat against one with an unsealed back edge is where swelling starts.
