About bathroom waterproofing
Bathroom waterproofing is done before tiling or it is not done. We treat the floor and 600 mm up all walls — full height in the shower zone — form coving at the floor-to-wall junction, seal every pipe penetration, and flood test for 48 hours before a single tile goes down.

Bathroom Waterproofing — questions
Can it be done without removing tiles?
Not properly. The waterproofing layer belongs under the tile, against the slab. Surface treatments applied over finished tiles are a stopgap at best and will not stop water already tracking through the bed.
How long does a bathroom take?
Four to six days for the waterproofing itself including the flood test, before tiling starts. The flood test is 48 hours of that and skipping it is the most common shortcut.
Other waterproofing services
Terrace Waterproofing
A terrace leak is rarely above the stain. Water travels sideways under a failed screed before it drops.

In Mumbai more water enters through the walls than through the roof, because the rain arrives sideways.
