Why do renovation costs overrun?
Because concealed services are priced from a floor plan rather than from inspection. GI plumbing and aluminium wiring are common in pre-1995 Mumbai flats and neither shows on a drawing. Opening up during the survey is what prevents the surprise.
Can I stay during the work?
Not for a full renovation. Phasing it room by room is possible and adds roughly 30 to 40% to the timeline, because trades cannot run in parallel.
